Michael Daly — Deepening Practice through Sesshin

  • Santa Barbara Hospice 2050 Alameda Padre Serra Unit 100 Santa Barbara, CA 93103 United States (map)

Michael is a newer student and beginner in Zen practice. In the last year, he has participated in multiple shesshins as a way of diving all-in to continuous and deepening practice. In this Sunday talk, he will talk about the Eastern origins and history of sesshins, as well as his experience with extended periods of zazen here in the West. He will also briefly touch upon the practice of oryoki, the formal eating ritual practiced during sesshin. Fellow sangha members Dave and Erin will also share their sesshin experiences.
Michael is a member of the SBZC Board of Directors, works in local government and resides in Santa Barbara with his wife, son and dog.
